Wednesday Hodgepodge

 

 

 Hi Friends!  I am here with Joyce for her weekly Hodgepodge linkup.  I always love her questions...let's get this week's answered shall we?

 

 

1. Fall arrives this week in the northern hemisphere. Does it look/feel like fall where you live?What's something you love to do this time of year that makes you feel its officially fall? 

*If you're answering today from the southern hemisphere feel free to sub spring for the word fall. 

 

 

It is starting to feel like fall with temps in the 60's during the day...I prefer summer weather....70's...80's...even sometimes 90's...not a fan of the humidity but love the sun and heat.  Anyway, I digress...back to fall...seeing pumpkins everywhere lets me know it is fall! 

 

 

 

2. What's a small daily task or chore that always seems to fall through the cracks when your schedule gets busy?

 

 

 Putting clothes away...when I get busy, I ended up letting them pile up on a chair in our bedroom...even though that annoys me...sometimes I just crawl into bed when I have been super busy and am wiped out

 

 

3. What's something you're falling for lately?

 

 

 Tik Tok I guess....my favorite videos surround Frenchies...College Life...Working Mamas...Cooking Mamas and such

 

 

 

4.  Pumpkin is a popular flavor this time of year.  Are you a fan? What's your favorite pumpkin flavored food or beverage?  

 

 

 

 Yes I enjoy pumpkin in both sweet and savory dishes.  My favorite pumpkin flavored foods include my friend Beth Ann's Pumpkin Bars and I also enjoy Pumpkin Chili, Pumpkin Hummus and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins/Cookies

 

 

5.What's something you wish would never change? Explain. 

 

 

 The seasons here in New England...I know many will disagree...I like three out of the four seasons so that's not bad but I wish we didn't have winter...I wish summer weather would last all year long here 

 

 

 

6. Insert your own random thought here. 

 

 My friend Misty got me a collection of "Affirmation Cards For A Badass" and I am reading one a day...I LOVE them...perfect for me...here is one example ;)  and so very true! Along with these, she gifted me the ingredients to make my fave cocktail- an Aperol Spritz- love when my friends just know me!

 

 

Homemade Alfredo Sauce

 

Hi Friends!  I needed to share this recipe with you.  So  many of our kids love mac and cheese right?  This is a way to dial up your family dinners and so so easily.  The funny thing is too, is that, this sauce is not limited to pasta.  We have enjoyed it over veggies and as a dipping sauce with meat as well.  Takes a few minutes and the results are so rich and creamy- hope you try and enjoy!

Here is what our little weekend looked like...

 

Friday

 

Rob, Papa and Eva took off in the afternoon for Vermont.  They were headed to Eva's hockey tournament with her girls' team.  I worked

 

I was running solo...with Remi of course :)

 

I had some besties over for apps and wine and we had a great night relaxing and catching up!

 

 

 

Saturday

 

I was up bright and early.   I picked up a bag of things from a friend's house and then I was off to North Andover.  I picked up my girl and we went for a Starbucks date and a drive around!  My heart was happy :)

 

We even drove by the house I grew up in, in Andover....ahhhh nostalgia :/

 

 We had a great time catching up.  I dropped her back at school, headed home to feed Remi then headed up to the high school for the home opener football game.  Lea had her fat head of Brooks ready to go...we took some silly pics :)

 

 Windham beat Alverine...it was a great game!

 

After that, I went home to relax for a bit then fed Remi and headed over to Red's to meet with Tina and Misty for dinner and catch up- it had been WAY too long!

 

 

 I crashed hard!  (with Remi of course)

 

Sunday

 

I was up bright and early.  I then headed over to Letizio Tower for our 2026 Windham Blackout Opening Ceremony!  It is officially here!

 

 The Flag Raising (including the Pediatric Cancer Flag).  They will also be lighting up the tower in GOLD each night for the month of September

 

Hayden sang The National Anthem for Us and did a beautiful job

 

 

 

 

After that, I headed to Walmart to pick up the annual mums we have with us all week

 

 Then I got the grocery shopping done and ordered pizza to be delivered to our volunteers during tee shirt distribution tomorrow.

 

I got home to unload everything and the rest of the fam got home too.  I made us ramen bowls for lunch...

 

 

 Then I got organized for the week and then enjoyed a nap- woohoo!

 

Last night, I got to see Eva's Hockey Game with her Co-Ed Team

 

 and finished the weekend watching Patrick Clancy on 60 Minutes.  Anyone else watch?  It was heart wrenching :(

Happy Friday Friends!  We made it...phew....heading into my final Blackout Week for 2026 and I am keeping my eye on the prize...can't wait to take a nap after...ha!

Cross Country

 

So proud of Eva...new school this year and wanted to try a new sport...she is running cross country...and she knows how much building endurance will help her with her other sports too!  She ran her first two meets this week!  She also loves having extra time with her bestie :)

 

 

 

 

Blackout Is Off To A Great Start!

 

 

We got the nails in full effect..... 

We gave the School Board and SAU Their Shirts!

 

Speaking Of Shirts....It was a beast but we got all of the sorting and alphabetizing done under the direction of our fearless tee shirt leader "Ann The Ninja" which I have dubbed her :) 

LOVE the shirts this year!

 

 

 and we kick off our big week on Sunday with our opening ceremony...lettt'ssss goooooo....I guess I am even more excited knowing we have already raised more money than last year so we have another record-breaking year on tap...all in the name of awareness and funding for pediatric cancer!

Oh how we have needed each other....and how helpful they have become....how we keep making plans to keep in touch and get together which warms my heart...we all had similar stories to share...pretty smooth move ins and most have been good fits thus far...but there is homesickness off and on...especially for the BH boys which was expected...love these ladies 

 

We celebrated getting our babies off to college... 

and the Capital Grille certainly helped us celebrate with their extra darling touches...

and the joke of the night was about tattoos...one of the boys said he got a tattoo of "BH" which stands for their friend group "Ben Hollister" but the question was raised...is it real or fake...we started texting our kids...most said it was fake...we had some laughs over it...and one of our mama friends had AI help her create this funny pic...ha!  "BH Moms"...our tattoos ;)
