Favorite Memorial Day Weekend Recipes

Hi Friends!  With Memorial Day Weekend Quickly Approaching, I thought I would share some of our favorite recipes that are on repeat as we kick off the summer in these parts.  So I am giving you a little time to whip up a menu that will be sure to impress.

This year, we are kicking off our Memorial Day Weekend with a ladies birthday get together for Cass....Daddy will be covering the softball game that night!  The rest of the weekend will be filled with softball and getting together with family and friends....exact schedule to be determined and we tend to wait for the weather forecast in these parts!

Anyway, I digress....here are some dishes I plan to whip up for the long weekend...

Red White and Blue Bites (Version 1)

Watermelon, Feta and Blackberry Skewers (garnish with mint if you choose)

Beautiful- Patriotic - Refreshing

Red, White and Blue Bites (Version Two)

Crackers, Strawberries, Blue Cheese and Drizzle with Truffle Honey

Patriotic- Simple- Oh So Delish!

Lobster Roll Sliders (Find My Recipe HERE)

Nothing screams summer more than lobster in New England!

Fruit Salsas

First, The Pioneer Woman's Watermelon Pico de Gallo (Find the Recipe HERE )

 Patriotic and Refreshing!

and Strawberry Salsa

Find the Recipe HERE

It is such a nice alternative to regular salsa- I typically serve this with pita chips or blue tortilla chips for a patriotic twist!

Hope you give one of these a try- let me know!

Hello Monday and Hello Spring in New England (or should I say summer?)

Hi Friends and Happy Monday!  We finally felt like spring had arrived here in New England BUT it was even more like summer and so typical for these parts- we go from freezing cold/having the heat on/winter like weather in spring to an instant summer...that' s just life in new England sometimes- ha!

Sarah and I are so glad you stopped by!  If you blogged today, grab our graphic above and link back up below!

Here is what our little weekend looked like.....

Friday Night

The girls stayed with Papa so Mama and Daddy could have a fun night out with the Soul Sisters and their men.  We had an awesome dinner at The Foundry in Manchester

and then after dinner, Suzy and Rob and me and my Rob went for a night cap to the Windham Restaurant.  I am usually not a night owl but I was having so much fun and didn't want to go to bed yet ;)

Saturday

We were up bright and early and started the day my favorite way with our date walk...it was the first time in about a year that we felt true warmth and didn't need jackets FTW!

Then it was time for my Starbucks date with Diana and to drop her off at dance

After that, I grabbed our plants and groceries for weekend meals.

Rob got a head start on  yard and pool work.  Pidge helped me to plant flowers in the front yard.

Later on, it was time to celebrate our little 8 year old with her friends.  We had her kid party at LazerCraze in Londonderry and they spent time in the jumpy houses, having pizza and cake and then having fun in the arcade.  Eva had a BLAST and said she wanted her party there every year- ha!

Another amazing cake by Kat!  Eva wanted all of her friends on her cake- we didn't know how much of a hit this would be- the girls got such a kick out of getting to eat their figurines :)

That night, Harry stayed over and we cooked on the grill while the kids had fun in the pool and such.  Harry and Diana love to write sitcoms and dramas and then act them out- they are TOO MUCH

Sunday

I made the kids breakfast before Rob and I jetted to mass.  After that, it was time for a softball tournament for Pidge- she had two games and the rain held off for both of them!  We are having so much fun watching her and I am just happy because she is loving it!

I was representing in my Amazon tee :)

Go Pidge!

In between games, we got a little tv in (with Remi) :)

After the second game, it was time for some more yard work and I got our herbs planted on the back deck.  Grateful that the rain still held off!  The girls were too as they swam while we worked :)

We cooked on the grill again and did s'mores for dessert because we were getting the shakedown ;)

We still have some more yard work to do but glad we got so much done...it felt good to be outside most of the weekend!

Friday Favorites (May 13, 2022)

Hi Friends and Happy Friday!  Yeah we made it!  If you are from New England, you also may be doing a happy dance because the real spring weather is finally here!  Yeah!

So excited to buy plants and flowers this weekend- woohoo!

As always, sharing some faves from our week and linking up HERE

  The Clown Affair

Just got the go ahead to share the exciting news that the film Diana had a small part in is being released.  The initial premier will be in NYC at the end of June and we are jetting down there to be there for it- yeah!  Since it is an independent film, the producers are still trying to raise money to help fund the post-production work like submitting it to different film festivals- this is all an education for me but we are so excited!

Here is a link to their campaign

and here is a link to the trailer!

Diana plays the young girl (obviously- ha!)

Matty in the Morning

Well not a fave but he was for many years of my life.  The famous local DJ, Matt Siegel of Matty in the Morning on Kiss 108, retired last week.  I am so sad but I am choosing to celebrate as he made me laugh for over 30 years!  He has been on the radio since the 70's!  I remember listening to him in high school when we carpooled and then later on when I had my first job in sales and I was on the road a lot and he was always on in my car.  He was always a favorite of mine and I needed to write about how much I would miss hearing him every morning!

Big Girl!

This week was monumental for another reason too.  No more car seat for Pidge- she was SO EXCITED- Mama was kind of sad.  She kept asking us and I said I needed to check with the police department (which I kept putting off) and when I was at my company 5K last weekend, Daddy couldn't stand listening to the begging anymore and called the police on his own.  She got the answer she was looking for and the rest is history- Oh my little Pidge- Babies Don't Keep- sigh

Spring Has Sprung!

We are taking full advantage- more outside walks- yeah!

I am going to start planting this weekend too and CANNOT WAIT!

Happy Bday My Betty Boop

BA's bday was this week and we celebrated with our favorite- coffee- I also gifted her a pair of Blenders so we could match- we laughed so hard and had to send a pic to Lea- so happy she introduced us to the BEST sunglasses :)

Leaving you with this funny meme- I sent this to Rob because it is SO TRUE- although for us, Saturday is the day this weekend- HA!  We laughed really hard at this one ;)

That's a wrap!  Have an amazing weekend!
