Tuesday Talk: Summer Must Sees in New England Edition

It's time for another fun round of "Tuesday Talk" with Ashley and Erika.  Linking up HERE

This is the fun linkup when we can talk/write about anything we want to

This time, I am choosing to write about "Favorite Things To Do in the Summer in New England"

I know all of the Texas bloggers have sent their kiddos back to school- sorry ladies!  Up here in New England, we still have a few weeks left of Summer Fun and we are holding on to every last second!

If you ever travel up to these parts, here are some fun things you CANNOT MISS.  Seriously, I have lived here my entire life so trust me- won't steer you wrong!

The Beaches
 (NH and MA)

New England beaches are the best beaches in the world- yes I may be bias but I have been to so many beaches and nothing compares to the New England coastline.  Please visit and let me know what you think.  Some faves include

NH: Hampton Beach State Park, Seabrook Beach and Wallis Sands in Rye

MA: Wingaersheek Beach, Good Harbor and Plum Island

Beachside Towns
 (NH and MA)

When you are tired from a day in the sun and in the waves...there are plenty of beachside towns with lovely accommodations.  If you have been reading for awhile than you know I am partial to Portsmouth, but you can also hit up Newburyport MA just over the border or if you are in MA then Rockport is the cutest little town near Gloucester with the best little shops and restaurants.

Story Land
 (Glen NH)

 (Check them out HERE )

Oh you will be transformed in time when you visit Story Land. It houses attractions and rides that cover every fairy tale you will be able to remember....from Mother Goose to Little Miss Muffet....it is priceless and helps you and the kiddos travel back in time!  My favorite attraction is riding in the pumpkin coach up to Cinderella's Castle :)

Santa's Village
(Jefferson NH)

(Check them out HERE )

This little place is magical any time of the year!  We even get in the Christmas spirit when we visit each summer!  In fact, we will be there TOMORROW- cannot wait!  When you enter the park, you can pick up a ticket and find all of the hidden elves throughout the day.  When you find an elf, you insert the ticket into its mouth and it punches a hole.  At the end of your time, if you have been able to get all of the holes punched in your Elf Card, you get a prize.  This is one of the kids' favorite things to do :)  In addition to that fun, there are so many magical rides...and there is this bakery that has the BEST gingerbread cookies and the kids can even decorate theirs- amazing!

My bestie Jilly likes the warm donuts at another stand....it is all just Christmasy and magical.  Lastly, we wait in line so the kids can meet Santa, tell him what they want and get a picture of course...oh I can't wait!  Can you tell? :)

The Lakes
 (NH)

One of the biggest lakes in the world sits right here in little old NH- Lake Winnipesaukee

We are lucky enough to have friends that have a home on the lake and each summer they invite us up for a weekend of boating and lake fun.  Don't fret however.  If you don't know anyone who lives here, there are plenty of accommodation options including the Margate Hotel which sits on the lake.  Check them out HERE

While you are up there, a couple of places you cannot miss would be Naswas for cocktails on the "beach" or dinner at Lakeside Grill (owned by the Common Man family of restaurants)- it is waterfront and delish!  There are also lakeside shacks with great lobster rolls and adorable little ice cream shops.  It is a nice change of pace from the ocean (but I am still partial to my ocean of course)

Boston

and if you are in the mood for more history and culture then you must hit up Beantown.  Take in a Red Sox game or do the Freedom Trail Walk...better yet, take a Duck Boat Tour and don't leave until you have tried lobster or chowder or any fresh seafood at the endless options of restaurants.  You also may want to try and squeeze in either dinner or dessert in the North End- the best Italian village ever! The best part about Boston?  It is one of the best cities in the U.S.A AND it sits right on the water- FTW!

So I have plenty of more options for you if you need any more advice but this will give you a good start- we like that we have options and can visit the city, the ocean, parks and the lakes all in one weekend if we ever wanted to!  It's the place to be in the summertime!

Oh my word, this looks incredible! Every single picture and must-see spot is calling out to me. We'd love to take a family vacay in New England once my littlest is just a bit older. (My hubby is from NJ and has lots more experience than I do!) Thanks for the awesome ideas!!!
