Hello Monday and Hello Siesta Key!

Hi Friends and Happy Monday!

Sarah and I are so glad you stopped by.  If you blogged about your weekend, grab our graphic above and link back up with us below.  We love to see what you all were up to!

Here is what our little and special weekend looked like...

The girls and I had a wonderful little time in Siesta Key Florida visiting my parents.

I took two days off so I could take the girls on a little adventure during their February vacation.  First thing Thursday, Robby B took us to the airport.

Thursday

We got to Logan at 5:45am...checked in...checked a bag and had some breakfast.  We made it to our gate with plenty of time to spare...

and we are off!

We landed in Tampa around 12:30 and our driver John was waiting for us....we grabbed my suitcase (packed all of our stuff in there) and were shocked to see that it had been broken on both sides and one of the wheels was broken off.  No one at Jet Blue said anything and I realized I would probably have to buy a new one there as they most likely would not let me travel home with it...geesh..anyway, I refused to let it get me down...

The ride was about an hour and a half to my parents' condo in Siesta Key...John was great sharing some stories with us.

We got there around 2pm and my parents were thrilled to see us...their place was so cute!

We had our toes in the sand by 2:15pm...I call that a success!

Siesta Key is rated one of the top beaches in the world and I can definitely see why.  Not only is it beautiful but the sand is the softest you will ever feel...like powder and it never gets hot!  It was crazy!  Even though it was 90 degrees out, the sand was cool!

We couldn't swim because the red tide was in...that is a problem that the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico face...that was something new we learned.  The water can cause infections and when the red tide is in it can cause allergy symptoms.  Everyone was coughing- so weird! Regardless, it was such a nice escape from our reality...which was this at home....

HA!

After the beach we headed back and Pidge and Papa hung by the pool for a bit while the rest of us got showered and ready for dinner.

We enjoyed our very own Happy Hour at the condo :)

and then we headed to a fun dinner at The Boat Yard

My Grilled Grouper Sliders with Jasmine Rice- delish!

After dinner, we drove to Marshall's so I could pick up a new suitcase....sigh

When we got back we started to watch Greys Anatomy before crashing!

Friday

Mimi, Diana and I headed out for a power walk...it was SO BEAUTIFUL out and I soaked up every ray of sun and fresh air...Mimi showed us around the area...it is so adorable...filled with shops, bars and restaurants!

We spent this day at the pool at their complex...it was so relaxing and Pidge didn't get out of the water ALL DAY...well except to eat lunch and show off her snorkeling attire ;)  I said she is ready to join the cast of Mamma Mia....ha!

Later on, we got freshened up and headed out to Happy Hour at Gilligan's - so fun!

and then we had an incredible dinner at Cafe Gabbiano's- my parents completely spoiled us all weekend!

After dinner, we walked around and hit the shops- such cute jewelry and we snagged a few things and then had to hit the candy shop of course ;)

My candy necklace that Eva got for me :)

Saturday

We were up bright and early for one more power walk and then we headed back and got all packed.  My parents were checking out and we got ready to head home too.  We packed up their rental car and headed out to an awesome breakfast at the Sun Garden Cafe...

After that, we headed back to the house where our driver met us and headed back to the airport.  My parents had more time to kill so they went exploring.

We were very lucky that we only had one delay.  There was so much traffic heading back to the airport so it ended up being a blessing in disguise.  We dodged a huge snowstorm and I am grateful we could still get home on Saturday night.  We took off at 5:30 instead of 3:30 so not bad at all!  We killed time by grabbing lunch at the airport.

All settled in and ready to go!

Wheels Up!

We landed around 8:15 and we were grateful to be back in Boston BUT THEN it took Jet Blue an hour to send our bags through...we all ended up getting some travel credits but I am ready for a fight with them about my damaged suitcase...stay tuned!

Robby B was a gem and picked us up and we crashed at home around 10:30pm.  It was nice to escape reality for a few days with my girls

Sunday

We were up bright and early to get organized for our week.  I did the grocery ordering and some home organizing and work organizing.

Rob did a few errands and I ran to the butcher then cooked Sunday dinner.  I had spring fever so Rob shoveled a path to the grill so we grilled up some chicken and had it with some veggies.

Later on, the girls had auditions for some little shows that LDA is bringing back after four long years- The Lorax for Eva and A Child's View of the Holocaust for Diana

After auditions, Diana headed to dinner with some dance friends and Rob, Pidge and I headed to mass.

Last night meant we headed to bed early but not before another episode of Blue Bloods (and snuggling with Remi of course!)

It was an amazing weekend...what were YOU up to?

Everyone in our town (well, OK not everyone) spring breaks in Siesta Key. We are one of the few who don't ;). I knew it was popular for a reason. It looks amazing down there and how wonderful to share it with your parents. What fun memories you made! That is terrible about JetBlue. I hope you get some recompense. Have a great Monday! It's going to be 70 degrees here. I may not even want to get away to Florida in a few weeks. Kidding of course! I will be ready for the sand...

Your trip looked so fun!! Nice to see sun I am sure. We went to Sarasota and dealt with red tide. I had never heard of it before and we could not stop coughing. So strange. Hope you have a great week.

What an amazing getaway weekend! You had the best of both worlds by coming home Saturday night. That was smart! I'm so glad you had fun. I know your parents are loving their place!

Your trip looks amazing...and what a blessing to go this time of the year. We love SK. Trav's aunt has a house there, and that's usually our summer vacay. We don't get a winter break, but spring break will be here soon.
