Hi Friends and Happy Monday! Sarah and I are so glad you are here! If you blogged today, grab our graphic above and link back up with us below!
I am coming off of a whirlwind weekend! Here is what it looked like
Friday Night
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the girls in the Triple Threat production. This was our 8th year! Diana played The Baker's Wife in "Into The Woods" and Margo in "Legally Blonde" and also danced and sang in the opening and closing acts- both from "A Chorus Line." Eva played one of the Matildas and an Orphan in "Oliver!" A full recap coming this week!
Saturday
The alarm was set for 3am! Robby B took me to Logan Airport in Boston. We were there by 4:10am and I breezed through security, grabbed breakfast at Starbucks and waited at my gate. My flight took off at 7am and I landed in NYC a little after 8. Great flight- only 45 minutes! Since I didn't check a bag, I made the long walk to outside and grabbed a taxi- I must say that La Guardia airport is AMAZING- so modern and clean and easy to navigate.
I arrived at our hotel- Park Central Hotel- at 9am. Our room wasn't ready but I was able to change and hang out in the lounge while I waited for Dawn.
She got to the hotel at 9:30 and we hugged and cried and agreed we can't wait 5 years each time to see each other! She quickly changed (I got us matching Barbie tanks and sunglasses) and we headed out to walk around.
Times Square
Our reservation for lunch at The Malibu Barbie Cafe wasn't until 12:30 so we walked and took in the sights and stopped at different shops- it was SO HOT- it hit 93 that day in the city. If you have been to NYC, however, there is always a buzz...so much excitement...so much to see...so much going on!
We then took a taxi down to the cafe area which was way downtown. We checked in but we were still early so we walked around the seaport area which was so pretty and hit a few shops there too. I grabbed some trinkets for the girls.
We then got some waters and hung out in a cool bar until our reservation time.
Once we hit the cafe, we waited for another 10 minutes then we were seated. There were so many cute photo ops that we took advantage of.
We had to pre-order our meals and they were fantastic- we were pleasantly surprised. Dawn had the California Club and Fries and I had the West Coast Wedge Salad with some Fruit. We ordered the Barbie Margaritas to drink- they were strawberry- so perfectly pink and yummy!
After that, we took a taxi back to the hotel and were able to check in to our room and freshen up. Then we headed back out for another long walk.
Back in Times Square and first time I got to see The Naked Cowboy- ha! Hysterical!
Then we hit up our next destination- the fun pop-up "Candytopia" - another fun place for photo ops- some fun candy samples and impressive art work- everything was made of candy!
After that, we did my favorite thing. We got in line at Ellen's Stardust Diner! This was not planned and I was so happy that Dawn suggested it. I have been dying to go! The waitstaff sings and entertains you while you are eating and drinking. They are all so talented and definitely up and comers and future Broadway stars!
After that, we walked back to our hotel to change for our final event- The Immersive Gatsby Experience right at our hotel. We were early so once we were all decked out, we headed down to the lounge and took advantage of our free drink coupons. We chatted and chatted and chatted.
Then it was time for the show. We headed in and were amused for the most part but then it was really strict and the dialogue was not authentic and Dawn being the English teacher that she is, did not like how they were re-writing history- we both got annoyed and decided to leave early and hit up the lounge again so we could talk some more and enjoy our time together.
(No pictures or videos were allowed inside the show)
Of course, there were MANY laughs throughout all of this. We reflected on our funny memories and then laughed about the Gatsby show.
When we headed upstairs, we crashed hard and were probably asleep before 11pm.
Sunday
I had the alarm set for 5. I said goodbye to Dawn and grabbed a taxi back to the airport. There was no traffic so I got there so quick and had plenty of time. I finished my book "One Italian Summer
which was PERFECT especially leading up to our trip! I enjoyed breakfast, talked to Robby B for a bit and then finally boarded.
I landed in Boston a little after 10am and RB was waiting for me. We got home a little after 11 as we stopped at the grocery store.
It was such a quick, fun and successful trip and so glad Dawn and I could celebrate our 50ths together!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and catching up with my little fam :) Diana headed to Caden's show for a bit but we were all home most of the day which was such a nice change!
My "Son" was very happy to see me- ha! :)
Phew...even this post makes me tired...so...what were YOU up to?
