Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Friends and Happy Hodgepodge Day!  I am linking up with Joyce to answer her fun questions so here we go...

1.  Are you more life of the party or more party pooper? If your answer is somewhere in the middle which side of the middle do you lean towards more?

I would say life of the party...love to host family and friends and love being around people!

Birthday party, beach party, cocktail party, dinner party, charity fundraiser, surprise party, costume party, garden party, Christmas party, reunion...what's your favorite kind of party?

Oh I love a party over the summer or during Christmastime...I also help host events for Blackout (Pediatric Cancer Charity) at local businesses

2. Cheese, wine, and balsamic vinegar all improve with age. What would you personally add to the list?

Mothers...as we gather the wisdom as the years go on...we get better with age I think ;)

3. How do you feel about your birthday? How do you want to be celebrated? Or don't you?

I like my birthday...I love celebrating with my favorite people...after going through some tough years health-wise, I don't take life for granted...I think we should all celebrate being here for another year!

4. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Not necessarily your same birth year, just the same date/month.

Gotta love AI...I learned some new things today...check it out:

On September 3rd, key events include
the Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolution in 1783, Britain and France declaring war on Germany to start World War II in 1939, Italy's surrender to the Allies in 1943, and the signing of a secret armistice with Italy in 1943. Other notable events are the launch of the first penny newspaper, "The New York Sun," in 1833, the first professional American football game in 1895, and the American flag flying in battle for the first time in 1777

Some celebrities that share my birthday include: Charlie Sheehan (Actor), Whitey Bulger (Criminal/Murderer), Jennie Finch (Pro Softball Player), Shaun White (American Olympic and Pro Snow Boarder), and Ashley Jones (Soap Actor)

5. Share two good things about your life right now.

Diana and Eva :)

6. Insert your own random thought here.

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month.   This will be my fifth year leading the Windham Blackout Committee.  We are a chapter of Project Blackout whose mission it is to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer.

It is the most rewarding work ever and each year we make things bigger and better.

I wanted to write about it today because I feel this year is going to be more magical.  It is rather personal too.  It is the first time my Aunt and Uncle will be there.  This is my mom's sister and brother in law.  They lost a child, my cousin Anissa, when she was 3 and 1/2 years old.  She had leukemia.  It changed our family forever.  She is a little angel in heaven who I think of often and she is a big part of my inspiration for doing this.  I am so excited that they will be there this year and can meet some of the friends I have made who have also lost children to this horrible disease.  I hope they will feel some peace and hope when they see this work and this night of magic.

Anissa (on right) with her twin sister Emily :)
