Wednesday Hodgepodge (On Thursday!)

Hi Friends!  I am joining Joyce for her weekly Hodgepodge Linkup, albeit a day late, but always worth joining in...so here we go...

1. It's officially spring in the northern hemisphere. Does it feel like spring in your part of the world? If you're in the southern hemisphere it's officially autumn where you live. Does the weather say autumn? Which do you prefer-spring or autumn? Why?

Springtime of the Past

It doesn't feel like spring yet here unfortunately...First example, it snowed this week, just a dusting, but it snowed.  I am getting glimpses of hope, however.  The days are longer.  The snow has melted. Now I am waiting for warmer weather, buds and blooms!

2. What's your favorite thing about spring?

Planting flowers- eating outside- softball- all of the special happenings and formal events- spending more time outside in general

3. Spring into action, spring in your step, spring to life, spring to one's feet...which spring idiom currently applies to your life in some way? Explain.

Spring Into Action.

4. Which spring food from this list is your favorite? What's a dish you like that includes your favorite spring ingredient?

asparagus, strawberries, salad greens like mesclun, artichokes, spinach, eggs, peas, spring onions

Strawberries and salad greens...though I love artichokes and spinach and eggs as well...like all of the above really

5. What's one task on your spring cleaning list? Do you actually have a list?

No not really...we tend to clean up our porch and deck and pool deck- blow off leaves and pollen- wipe everything down.  Rob will also blow leaves out of the yard so we can get mulching and planting come Memorial Day Weekend.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

JOY is my word for 2026.  As I was reading through one of my lenten books one morning this week, a quote from Saint Philip Neri truly resonated with me because of JOY...he said,

"We are not saints yet, but we, too, should beware.  Uprightness and virtue do have their rewards, in self- respect and in respect from others, and it is easy to find ourselves aiming for the result rather than the cause.  Let us aim for joy, rather than respectability.  Let us make fools of ourselves from time to time, and thus see ourselves, for a moment, as the all-wise God sees us."

Your patio area is so pretty! You'll get to spring/summer weather eventually. I'm sure the wait makes it all the more special :). Glad you are looking for and finding joy- here's to much joy today, friend!

Glad you made it here! I remember living in the Northeast and feeling like spring would never get there. Lots of years we were in winter coats for Easter, especially if it was early in the spring. Hope you get some warmer weather soon and definitely no more snow!! Joy is a good word and I hope you're finding lots of it this year.

It did feel like spring here until last night when we had hail. I hope it warms up a little for you soon.
There are so many good that happen in spring. I do like being able to get outside more.

Yeah, I was shocked to wake to a dusting of a snow on Tuesday. I had no idea that was even a possibility in the forecast. Thankfully it didn't stick around long.
