Hi Friends! Patty and I are so glad you are here! Once a month, we chat about various topics and ask you to jump in! This month we are talking all things Thanksgiving. We are answering these questions...
So let's get to it!
1. Favorite Thanksgiving Dishes
Roasted Turkey, Bread Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce and Green Beans...I do like everything we have but those are my favorite staples....oh my Mom's Stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer...they taste like Thanksgiving to me :)
2. Stuffing or Dressing? Please share a recipe!
Stuffing- we do this mashed potato bread stuffing that is to die for- it is a staple and My mom thinks she found the original recipe in the Boston Globe. Find the Recipe HERE
3. Are you hosting any of the holidays this year? Please share your tips!
Yes...of course...always hosting here....Thanksgiving Eve...Thanksgiving Breakfast...Thanksgiving Dinner...Wine Group...Favorite Things Party and Christmas Eve
Lists always help me...guest list...menu...grocery list...to do list....helps me stay organized and less stressed!
4. Turkey Trot or Football Game?
Well...kinda a complicated answer...we always grew up with the high school football game...our favorite Thanksgiving tradition... but after moving to Southern NH for Rob, I quickly learned that high school football games do not exist on Thanksgiving morning- what? BOO! Anyway, we created our own traditions and the Windham Turkey Trot is one of them...the kids come over for breakfast and then we all head out and do the Turkey Trot together. After that, everyone goes their separate ways for their Thanksgiving Dinner traditions.
5. If you decorate for Christmas, do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?
Well depends on the year....this year, we decorated early so before...last year, we decorated after and the years prior, we decorated early due to our Nutcracker years and traditions. I think moving forward, it will be a year by year decision
6. Are your holidays more sit down meals or casual affairs?
Sit down meals for the most part
7. Pumpkin or Apple Pie? Another dessert?
Another dessert please...ice cream pie or pumpkin cheesecake (the one from Trader Joe's!)
8. Are you traveling for Thanksgiving or staying closer to home?
At home!
9. Do you Black Friday Shop?
Yes! One of my fave traditions with my bestie Cass...starting last year, we added our oldest daughters to the tradition as well :)
10. Thing you are most looking forward to this holiday season?
Time spent with my family and friends...that is the greatest gift!

Thanks for the recipe link to the mashed potatoes stuffing- I will check that out. I gotta say I´m kind of with southern NH on the whole no high school football game on Thanksgiving thing. It takes so many people to run a game and all those people have to be gone on Thanksgiving morning? I guess if you get used to the tradition it´s neat but I have never heard of that! I love all of your holiday traditions and hosting events- you do everything so well :). Thanks for the link up!
I should have done photos! Love yours!
Lists for sure when it comes to really anything in my life these days. When I host a big dinner I always make a time sheet too so I don't forget to put something in the oven or take something out. You are the hostess with the mostest and I'm sure everyone loves coming to your house for gatherings. That mashed potato stuffing sounds interesting. My family would revolt if I changed up the stuffing, but I might find a recipe and try it at another time. Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for the link up!
True true...I am all good with it now but those were really fun years. In high school I got to cheer at the game each year and just loved it!
Oh thank you!
Yes! You could even make it another time with a roasted chicken!
Your stuffing sounds great with the potatoes. Thanks for hosting and I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you Julie!
Can the mashed potato stuffing be made ahead of time? Thank you
Holly, Checking in from Ohio but I was born in Manchester. My grandparents used to make a similar potato dressing. My other grandmother was Fr Canadian and made the pork stuffing. My 87 yr old mom from Dover, is on her way to my home . She’ll make it for us. Any leftovers will be for pork pie. Happy Holidays!
That cheesecake looks amazing! I definitely swear by lists when I'm hosting too; otherwise I am notorious for forgetting something so simple like the canned cranberry sauce. Luckily I rarely forget to buy it and if I forget to serve it someone usually notices and it's quick enough to get it on the table.
You are such a good hostess. I love the last picture with the chaos and fun of a big group. I'll link up tomorrow.
Yes and I often do! I will probably makes ours Sunday or Monday!
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for chiming in- such wonderful traditions :)
Oh me too Joanne! The lists save me
Thank you Tanya- I love being surrounded with people :)
I bet you are the best hostess!! Pumpkin cheesecake sounds delicious!
I love how much you host for the holidays and how happy it makes you! Around Baltimore, MD we have two high schools that always play on Thanksgiving but that's it. I've been to their game a few times and it's fun, but I am happy to be home for the parade now. Thanks for hosting!
Oh awesome . I will make it for sure ! Thanks so much
