We enjoyed celebrating our special girl yesterday!  Can't believe she is ELEVEN!

 

First thing in the morning it was presents and donuts for breakfast- woohoo!

 Special posts throughout the day...our fave was from Aunty Cass :)

 

 After school meant a special drive-thru trip to Chic-Fil-A :)

and then catching up outside while she ate...someone made us feel guilty

 

so we let him join us ;)

 

 

and last night, we capped off her special day with

a special bday dinner at Red's!

Monthly Musings: Spring Hosting, Decorating and Gardening

 

Hi Friends and welcome to Monthly Musings with Patty and me!  We are so glad you are here!  Once a month, we chat about some of our favorite topics.  This month, we are talking all things Spring...from hosting and decorating to gardening!  

 BUT FIRST

 

Happy 11th Birthday to Eva a.k.a PIDGE!!  My girl is growing so fast!

 

She is our old soul, our smart girl, our future President, our athlete, our loyal friend and best daughter and sister around!  We love you Pidge XOXO so excited to celebrate you!

 

 

 

Back to Monthly Musings...Hope you will join us...we are answering the questions below...

So here we go....

 

1. Do you celebrate Easter, Passover or another holiday in spring?

 

 

We celebrate Easter and the entire Holy Week in the Catholic Church!

 

 

2. Do you plant a garden?  Any tips for those without a green thumb?

 

Can you tell this was one of my questions?  I love to plant flowers...I also enjoyed planting veggies years ago but over the last few years, I haven't had much success....any Green Thumbs out there?  Need advice please!  Thank you :)

 

3. How do you decorate for spring?

 

We decorate for Easter inside...bunnies...eggs...little Easter touches...for spring, I start making more flower arrangements and then we plant flowers outside to brighten up the yard

4. Desserts that just say Spring to you?

 

 

Hmmm...it would be so easy to  name some desserts for the three other seasons here...like ice cream in summer...caramel apples in fall and Chrismasy chocolate peppermint choices in the winter but all I can think of in spring is fruit...more fruit...even mixed in with our salads

 

5. Favorite Spring Flowers?

6. Best tips for hosting spring events?

 

 

 

Like events during different parts of the year, lists lists lists!  Also if you are planning on hosting an event outside, always have a Plan B.  I feel like we are pros at that in New England.  We can never depend on the weather so having a porch or a room designated as a party room is the safest here!

7. Favorite Beverage or Cocktail that makes you think of spring?

 

White Wine- A White Sangria or even a fruity cocktail

 

 

8. Vegetable garden?  Flower Garden?  Both?  Neither?

 

I would say BOTH...I so want to rock both...depending on you all for tips! 

 

9. Favorite Easter/Passover Candy?

 

Cadbury Mini Eggs...they have surpassed many others over the years :)

 

10. Marshmallow Peeps? Gross or yes please?

They are ok...I prefer to decorate with them ;)

 

 

Wednesday Hodgepodge

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Hi Friends and Happy Hodgepodge Day!  I am here with Joyce for her fun linkup and we are answering her questions below...

 

1. The Hodgepodge lands on National Picnic Day...will you celebrate? Do you enjoy picnics? Dining out of doors picnic or otherwise? What are three or four things I'd find in your picnic basket? 

 

 

 

Haven't had a picnic in awhile...I think the last time I did was with besties on the beach...with us...you would've found wine and cheese...maybe some crackers and fruit...oh and our favorite snack turkey sausage from a farm Laurel gets it from in Vermont. Anyway, though I don't get to enjoy them often, I love a good picnic especially on the beach...at the ocean of course...one of my fave picnics with besties, however, was for my birthday and they got steamers or as we say here "steamahs" my favorite!

 

 

 

 

2.  A time recently where you felt 'antsy'? 

 

 Prom Day for Diana...I was nervous and just wanted everything to go right for her and most importantly, wanted her to have fun...prayers were answered and the ants went away ;)

 

 

 

3. As the saying goes...'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.'  Do you like lemonade? When did you recently need to make lemonade out of lemons, figuratively speaking?

I like an occasional lemonade..I actually had a lemonade mimosa during Easter brunch.  Figuratively speaking, due to business being down over the last two years, I have fought back by investing in a real estate career and working it as a 2nd job...we still have bills that need to be paid and kids to put through college and my full time job was just not cutting it...anyway...proud of myself because this has not been easy and instead of wallowing in self-pity, I am fighting back and doing everything I can to get the funds back up there...work in progress but I am determined!

4. Recently five 'celebrities' made a brief (ll minute) foray into space aboard Jeff Bezos Blue Origin rocket. Did you hear about this? Your thoughts? If money were no object is this something you'd like to do someday? 

 

Never....would never do it...but...happy for them....I guess?  All I heard was that it was a 10 minute trip and Katie Perry was kissing the ground...oh the drama...I guess I say good for them if it makes them happy?  Ha!

 

 

 

 

5. Favorite thing about the 'space' you're sitting in right now? 

 

My office is my space...I love how much I accomplish here...professionally...personally...I love my quiet time...my time to produce...my time to get inspired....this is my favorite space in our home for many reasons

 Rest In Peace Pope Francis...I feel he was such a trailblazer...a true Pope for the people...he always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word...he embraced every one of us...what a true impact he made on our entire world
