Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Friends!  I am here with Joyce for her fun weekly linkup an we are answering her great questions below....

1. 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' How does this saying ring true in your own family, either the one you grew up in or the one you made?

I love that I have traits from both of my parents- First, like my mom...my way of showing love through cooking- wanting to soak up all of the fun days with my kids- loving the theater AND high school football just as much- having a strong faith, to name a few things.  Then, like my dad...a strong work ethic, a love of golf, and being surrounded by great friends

2. Something you're nuts about these days? How about something that's driving you nuts?

Nuts about Friday Night Lights...Driving me nuts...hmmm...people who can't get out of their own way drive me nuts...sorry not sorry?  Ha!

3. What does abundance mean to you?

Living Life "To The Full"...right from the bible...making the most of the abundant gifts I have been given...living life to the fullest...enjoying every day and not taking all of our gifts for granted

4. Caramel apple-caramel cake-caramel corn-caramel sundae-caramel macchiatto...what's your caramel treat of choice?

Anything caramel...seriously...I guess I would say cake because there is a baker in the area that makes these incredible caramel apple cheesecake cupcakes and they are to die for...I also love a caramel apple martini this time of year too :)

5. What's a childhood memory that always comes to mind as the leaves start to fall?

Halloween and all of the fun and spookiness that came along with it...my mom's dinner...Trick Or Treating in the best neighborhood to grow up in...the parties...the candy...the decor...all of it

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Ok I am obsessed with Taylor's new album...have you listened yet?  Do you have a favorite song?  Mine is The Fate of Ophelia but I feel that the whole album is just amazing...love the positive vibe...reminds me of Reputation...great and catchy dance tunes

It sounds like you have got the best from both of your parents.
That is such a great answer for #3.
Oh wow! That caramel apple martini looks amazing!!
I wasn't a massive Taylor Swift fan but have listened to her album a few times and I love it.

I´m not much of a T Swift fan but I did hear the song you referenced on the radio and it is catchy. I don´t understand the album cover at all- I guess it´s artsy or something, lol! Great picture of your parents and Diana. That is great that you see some of your parents best traits in you- love that! Great pictures and have a great day!

I loved learning how you're like your parents! I mentioned Halloween in my fall memories as well. I want to listen to the new TS album; I've heard it's really good. I hope you have the best day, my friend! Happy Wednesday!

That cocktail looks so good! So true about our parents and as I grow older I want to be more like them for that connection.

So glad you are loving the album too! Thank you Kim :)

It is very catchy- the album cover is a reference to Ophelia- a Shakespearean character who drowned in a tub- Travis saved her from "the fate of Ophelia"- oh I could go on and on ;)

Let me know when you listen to the album- hope you enjoy! Gotta love Halloween- some great childhood memories for sure :)

Yes- completely agree- the connection- such a great goal :)

The neighborhood I grew up in was sprawling suburbia and so much fun for trick or treating. We'd go with a big group of friends and come home with a ridiculous amount of candy. We looked so forward to the day/night. That caramel apple martini looks yummy. I consider it a compliment when people tell me I'm like my mom and I hope my girls will feel the same. I haven't listened to the album but the girl has a way with words that is enviable.

Aww thanks! You should try one- delish and so fall!

Maybe Evan can make them for us?! :)

Ahhh....such nostalgia Joyce! I would be honored if my girls feel the same way too :)

Hi Holly, is that you with your parents in front of the Del Coronado? We went there for our honeymoon 51 years ago. We have been there a few times since then, most recently, last year with our son and his family. I have never heard of that drink before, but it looks good. I remember the fun days of Halloween as a child and when our children were little. Now we help pass out candy at our church Harvest Trunk N Treat.

Giiirrrrllll - that Taylor album is AMAZING!! I love it!! (and I would not declare myself an official Swiftie) It is so fun to listen to!! I love that you are like your parents, but you forgot to add that you and your mom have a fabulous sense of fashion too!!

Holly said...

No! That is my oldest (now 17) with my parents in front of the Grand Floridian :) I have never done a Trunk or Treat but that sounds really fun too!
