Mothers...as we gather the wisdom as the years go on...we get better with age I think ;)

I like my birthday...I love celebrating with my favorite people...after going through some tough years health-wise, I don't take life for granted...I think we should all celebrate being here for another year!

It is the most rewarding work ever and each year we make things bigger and better.
I wanted to write about it today because I feel this year is going to be more magical. It is rather personal too. It is the first time my Aunt and Uncle will be there. This is my mom's sister and brother in law. They lost a child, my cousin Anissa, when she was 3 and 1/2 years old. She had leukemia. It changed our family forever. She is a little angel in heaven who I think of often and she is a big part of my inspiration for doing this. I am so excited that they will be there this year and can meet some of the friends I have made who have also lost children to this horrible disease. I hope they will feel some peace and hope when they see this work and this night of magic.

Good luck with Project Blackout, you are doing an amazing job for such a fantastic cause. How wonderful that your Aunt and Uncle can be part of it this year.
I don´t know if I recall that you had a personal tie in to the tragedy of pediatric cancer. What a beautiful soul Anissa is in heaven, though of course her tragic ending here on Earth caused and still causes unimagined heartache. I loved to see all the pictures of your celebrations- you do them right, that is for sure! And the picture of your girls is so good- what a great answer to that question. Have a great day, friend!

I love that you work on Project Blackout; I can't imagine anything more tragic than losing a child to cancer. My grandma lost two; one at 16 and one shortly after birth. Keep up the good work!
I hope your Aunt and Uncle feel some peace and also hope for the future in curing this cruel disease. My 17 year old niece had leukemia and passed away in 2012. It certainly changed our family and there were some really hard years for a long time. It's still hard, but somehow you find a way to move forward and seek joy where joy can be found. I hope your event is a big success! Lovely picture of your girls...life is fragile and birthdays should be celebrated!

Aw, I love the two great things in your life right now! I love going all out for birthdays; mine and the boys.. and I would for Ben's birthday too but weirdly he insists he never wants much of anything.
Interesting ...I had not heard of project blackout. 19 years ago our 2nd grandson battled Leukemia and we were all very much involved in "Light the Night". Thankfully Tucker had wonderful doctors and with new research, Tucker survived Leukemia and is doing well. I admire programs like this. Prayers for your family.
