Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Friends and Happy Wednesday! Once again, I am here for the fun linkup hosted by the lovely Joyce so let's answer her fun questions...

1. "Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability." Sam Keen

Do you feel less guilty relaxing in July than you do in January? Elaborate.

I feel guilty relaxing any time of year...I chalk that up to the traditional Italian Catholic guilt that I was born with/raised to have (insert eye roll emoji here)

2. What's a telltale sign you're upset?

I get quiet...and I am never quiet...processing my emotions...putting my guard up...either that or I raise my voice because I get extra emotional...again Italian Catholic...blah blah blah...ha!

3. July 16th is National AI Day. What are your general thoughts and/or experiences with AI? Have you purposely used it? Does it excite you, scare you, or worry you? What do you see as a benefit? How about something relating to AI you see as a negative?

For a Recruiter like me, when it first started entering my newsfeeds and message boards, I got a bit nervous.  You know the naysayers saying it was going to replace humans and in particular, recruiters.  I made sure I read up and started playing with Chat GPT.  Well friends?  I am happy to report that AI is a great tool for Recruiters and professionals in general.  We are utilizing it to help make our jobs easier and make us better at what we do.  I have embraced AI and I am constantly playing with tools to make sure I remain current and cutting edge.  Now learning this makes me excited.  I always love to learn and become better!

4. You're invited to a summer pot luck and are asked to bring an appetizer, salad/side, or dessert. Which category do you go for and what are you bringing?

My friends always request my "crack bars." That is what they actually have dubbed them.  They are really "Rolo Ritz Bars" and you can find the recipe HERE.

Other than that, I tend to go for appetizers.  I love trying new recipes.  This corn salad/dip is a new fave.  You can find it HERE

5. It wouldn't be summer without___________________.

Swimming!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I drink seltzer water all year long.  Anyone who knows me knows that the Polar Orange Vanilla is my favorite flavor.  Drinking seltzers helps me hit my water goal every day.  Hey!  It also keeps my life more interesting...anyway, I digress.  Polar has a limited time summer flavor that I am crazy about!  It is Poolside Grape Pops and it is outstanding- give it a shot!  It will bring you right back to childhood AND help you add another glass of water to your daily total ;)

While I definitely think I can be pretty lazy in the summer, somehow it doesn't FEEL lazy as I grew up with lazy summers so to me that is what summer is. If you asked me I'd tell you I'm laziest in February when I just want to hibernate and not do anything. Reading indoors by the fire feels lazier than reading outside on my deck, I guess!

I will take a side of the Rolo crack and a grape seltzer please! The drink looks so refreshing and how have I never heard of these Rolo Ritz bars before? It sounds sinfully delicious.

I haven't tried either flavor so will look for them. I think productive people can struggle with giving themselves a guilt free break. We are wired to do and there's always something else to be done. Sometimes we have to include r/r as part of our to-dos : ). Have a great day!

I go quiet too when I am upset.
When AI is used for good and in the right way it can be an amazing thing but I do worry about people who use it in the wrong way.
Those Rolo bars look so good!
I have never heard of Polar seltzer drinks, I will have to look out for them.

I dream about the Rolo bars! I have made them two or three times and they were seriously among the best desserts that I've consumed! So thank you for that recipe!! I think AI can be used for good purposes for professionals but did you hear about 20k employees at Oracle who lost their jobs due to AI? So it can and will, unfortunately, impact professionals in not so great ways. But I know it can be helpful and I'm glad you are using it as a helpful resource :).

So so true Joyce- I am going to make a conscious effort of trying to schedule rest time!

Those Rolo bars are addictive Kim- ha!

Oh I am so glad you made them Maria! Your cookie cakes look just as addicting! I hadn't heard that about the Oracle employees- so scary

That is awesome that you can use AI in your job. I'm going to check out the crack recipe!

I will have to try that seltzer! My sister just sent a message to use Alani electrolytes in Cotton Candy with a La Croix Pure - just water. Sounds delish!
I am the same - I really do think I have that guilt built in from church and my parents. Sometimes it's a good moral compass but man, I still feel it at 54!
Great pool pic of you. I need to whiten my teeth. Yours look great!

Hope you enjoy Tanya!

Enjoyed reading your answers today as I do a bit of catching up! Those dessert bars look amazing and I'm checking out your recipe. Might check out the seltzer as well, though seltzer water isn't my favorite - a little throwback flavor of childhood might change my mind! Hope you're having a great week!

Thanks Kym! Let me know what you think of the dessert bars if you try them!
