What I'm Reminiscing About

What We've Been Up To

It has been a quiet and cozy winter for obvious reasons...

This guy keeps us laughing and entertained

Diana has been working hard on her piece for YAGP- the competition was postponed and will now be happening later in March in Worcester, MA- fingers crossed!

The girls had fun dancing in the snow...

and Eva has been working hard at hockey!

We had a fun night with the Fourniers...

and enjoyed the annual School Deliberative Session...

Saturday Morning Date Walks have continued!

We went bowling with our Dance Pals...

Diana has enjoyed learning how to bake and cook in her FACS class

We celebrated Valentine's Day

We celebrated Fat Tuesday with our very first King Cake!

and we committed to our sacrifices for Lent and got our Ashes

We have been working through this challenging year of in-person school that sometimes flips to hybrid and sometimes flips to all remote- trying to ride the wave without getting too stressed but easier said than done for sure :/

We do see glimmers of hope and experience joy especially when we get to spend time with our COVID bubble- our besties and families!

 What I'm Dreading

Nothing...just soooo looking forward to Spring already!!

and other than that, I continue to binge Smash every chance I get ;)

and my two books for February....

A Good Neighborhood by Therese Anne Fowler

In Oak Knoll, a verdant, tight-knit North Carolina neighborhood, professor of forestry and ecology Valerie Alston-Holt is raising her bright and talented biracial son, Xavier, who’s headed to college in the fall. All is well until the Whitmans—a family with new money and a secretly troubled teenage daughter—raze the house and trees next door to build themselves a showplace.

With little in common except a property line, these two families quickly find themselves at odds: first, over an historic oak tree in Valerie's yard, and soon after, the blossoming romance between their two teenagers.

A Good Neighborhood
asks big questions about life in America today—what does it mean to be a good neighbor? How do we live alongside each other when we don't see eye to eye?—as it explores the effects of class, race, and heartrending love in a story that’s as provocative as it is powerful.

Friends?  This one makes you stop dead in your tracks- very thought provoking and uncomfortable at times but really made me think outside of myself- perception-reality- racism- so very good- grab it...TODAY

and I am working my way through

Murder At The Bake Sale By Lee Hollis

Maya and Sandra are friends, fellow moms, and private-detective partners in the picturesque waterfront city of Portland—where sometimes their cases can get as rocky as the Maine coast . . .

While private investigator Maya Kendrick is still mentoring her new partner, PTA president Sandra Wallage, in the detective game, the two women don’t need incredible powers of deduction to know their marriages are on the rocks. With Maya’s ex-cop husband in prison and Sandra’s senator spouse separated from her, both find themselves investigating the dating scene. Until Diego Sanchez turns up dead. The flirtatious high school Spanish teacher who had eyes for Maya was poisoned by cookies from a bake sale fundraiser for a Portland High class trip to Spain.

Hired by the students to find out who killed their popular and beloved teacher—including their own children—Maya and Sandra get a real education in parenting, relationships, and murder as their search for whodunit leads them deep into the unpleasant realities found in the small town politics and gossip of their Maine community . . .

This is actually the follow-up mystery to Murder At The PTA- this is the 2nd book in the mystery series by this fabulous Brother Sister writing team using the pen name of Lee Hollis.  I am LOVING it and flying through it...nice light read after the heaviness of my first book this month.

  3. What a difference a year makes! When I see the pre COVID photo at the mall all’s I can think is, they are all so close together. Look at all those people at the mall. How quickly our mindset can change. I cannot wait to go back to normal. In NY we are moving ahead with vaccines. I have an appointment next month, finally being overweight has paid off, ha ha. I think I will feel better being vaccinated, but still need to be cautious. Hoping the girls get back to dance in person soon.
