Hello Monday and Hello Blackout Week 2024!

Hi Friends!  Happy Monday!  Sarah and I are so glad you stopped by!  Hello Monday is our linkup where we talk all about our weekends.  Hope you will join us!

Today I am talking ALL Blackout Week...it was the most stressful and at the same time, the BEST YET!  Can you say 5,000 people??

Anyway...I am getting right to it!

But first...prep work!

The Mums.....

The Nails....

Presenting at the School Board Meeting and Giving Them Their Shirts

Best feeling ever...our sponsor restaurants advertising their Blackout specials :)

Sunday

Our Second Annual Raising of the Pediatric Cancer Flag to Kick Off Blackout Week- a big thank you to the Letizios and the Cub Scouts

Monday

Tee Shirt Distribution

MAJOR work since we sold the most shirts ever- 4,600 this year!

Tuesday

Our First Annual Blackout Bash at Luna Bistro

It was a successful and very fun night!

A BIG Thank You to Cheryl Haas for getting our message up on the Town Sign

Wednesday

A limited event- Ladies' Night at Red's

I helped to set up shirts and raffles then took off to go to bed...ha!

Our WHS Varsity Golf Team with a nice Blackout Win!

Thursday

Our "day of rest" but really there was more running around to do- supervising the guys setting up our banners- logging volunteer hours and attending the Center School Open House of Course...but first... snagging a Blackout Cookie at Klemm's!

The Tent is Up!

Friday

THE BIG DAY!  Everyone wore their shirts around town...

The kids had a blast at the WHS Pep Rally!  The Cheer Team did their halftime routine with the Dance Team- thank God for friends who work at our schools :)

Lea and I had our traditional lunch at Red's

Then it was time for the hard work...8 hours of it to be exact!

We FINALLY got the beautiful day we deserved- so grateful!

Sound Check!

Food Vendors Are Here!

Baby Sylvie was in attendance!  So special!

If you build it, they will come...5,000 to be exact...the most ever!

The Reasons We Do This

My Parents were in attendance for the first time- I was thrilled they wanted to be there AND when they told me how proud they are of me, my heart was squished!

My Besties AND Co-Chairs Lea and Bethany :)

Our Athletic Director, Jon, and someone who always saves my butt!  Ha!

The Band!

The Procession

This crowd made me panic a little at one point...very overwhelming..wonderful but little nerve wracking too

Let The Game Begin!!

The Cheerleaders

Our School Principals who helped me present flowers to our Honored Families During the Halftime Festivities

Our Blackout Committee!  We celebrated an epic year with our group photo and then we all went home to crash because we were exhausted

So excited to see the numbers but more importantly grateful and satisfied that we pulled off this amazing week for those families affected by pediatric cancer...no better feeling

After the fact, we had a great weekend with lots of rest..will recap later this week

Wow. What an amazing week of events. Is this a National campaign or just local? I've not heard of it before but it looks fantastic. We lost a niece at the age of 17 to cancer so this is something very close to my heart. Great job! I hope you get the nap(s) you deserve.
