Monthly Musings: Beating The Winter Blues Edition

Hi Friends!  Patty and I are so glad you are here!  During the last Thursday of the month, we host this little linkup called Monthly Musings.  We chat about different topics each month.  Here is our schedule for 2023!

This month we are talking about how we Beat The Winter Blues!  I SO NEED your advice in this area- I dislike winter!

So...without further ado...here are the questions we would love for you to answer.....

Well...here goes nothing.....

1. Something you do for yourself to beat the winter blues?

I try to get into a show or two and binge watch so I am in the zone and not looking outside

2. Something you do for your family to bring JOY over the winter?

I would say a couple of special things on Valentines Day- we surprise the girls with treats at their breakfast plates and then try to dress festively

3. Favorite Cozy Items or Go-Tos?

I would say my UGG Slippers- have a black pair and a neon pink pair and really only wear them in the winter

4. Winter Exercise Habits or Practices?

My favorite wintertime exercise is heated yoga but this year I have enjoyed walking outside on the mild winter days.  It is so good for me both physically AND mentally :)

5. Do you practice journaling or meditation?

I really don't outside of my daily prayers and devotionals and blogging :)

6. Do you light candles or burn essential oils to relax?

Candles for sure...all year long but they make winter a little more cozy

One of my faves- Capri Blue Volcano Candle

7. Any bedtime rituals you would like to share that promote quality sleep?

Not really...can't wait to read yours!

8. What are your morning habits that help prepare for a Good day?

Time with God first thing- Blogging- then getting some work done and getting ahead of my day.

A productive day for me is spent with prayer- hard work- exercise- water and quality family time

9. Favorite Way to Spend a Day Off in the Winter?

Hmmm...Doing something with my girls?  Or sharing some Wine with My Girlfriends in a cozy place

10. Favorite Winter Themed Movies?

Serendipity- About Fate- Sex and the City

Oh I cannot wait to read all of your posts!

  1. Those Ugg slippers look so cute and comfy. I agree that Valentine's Day is a great way to bring some celebration to winter. Less than two more months of winter- you got this!!

  2. I do not like winter at all! And I'm really not looking forward to when it's our turn. But on a brighter note, I like your winter movie suggestions. I will have to rewatch Serendipity when I am freezing and miserable because it's one of my favourites.

  3. I need to get better about drinking water. I find it harder in winter because I can really only drink cold water and then I just get colder in winter. Ugh.

  6. You've got some good ideas here! I am trying to get back into Ginny & Georgia but I haven't been able to yet. I loved season 1. Your Valentine cuties look so sweet! I miss those days--now I'm sending out digital gift cards to uber or starbucks for my girls (both live in NYC) for Valentine's Day. I love Serendipity. I need to watch that again. I try and light candles every night and make the house feel cozy, lots of walks, yoga and coffee. Stopping over from Julie's blog.

  8. Holly, I love the theme this month. It's the first time I'm participating in this and thanks for hosting. I like all of your ideas. The girls are so cute and I miss those days as my daughter is just out of college now. I too love Ugg slippers and lighting candles. I hope you enjoy your day.

  9. I just saw About Fate for the first time ever this past month and I thought it was so cute! I might actually like hot yoga in the winter... though I still hate to sweat I find I have a much higher tolerance for heat after being so cold all day!

  10. Ok, I need to watch About Fate because it was filmed in and around my hometown and we were up there prepping my parents house for sale when they were filing it in 2021!

Cheers to another great year of Monthly Musings. You are the Best blogging partner. Xoxo

  12. I try to walk outside on the nicer days too. I tend to drag my feet about doing it but then feel so much better once I actually get out the door!

  13. All great ways to beat some blues. It can get pretty gray and dreary here, so being sure to get outside when the sun makes an appearance is so helpful for me. Also, cooking all the comfort food.
