Hi Friends and Happy Monday! Woosh...we had a whirlwind of a weekend...how about YOU?
Sarah and I are so glad you stopped by! If you blogged about your weekend, grab our graphic above and link back up with us below! Would love to see what you were up to!
Here is what our little weekend looked like...
Friday
I took the day off so I could take Diana to YAGP 2023 in Worcester- even though it is the Boston/Worcester Semi Finals, it always takes place at the Hanover Theater in Worcester. This was our 3rd year attending- Diana was one of the first four kids chosen to attend and compete 3 years ago. The group has now grown and the kids had a blast supporting each other!
Anyway, I digress. We left our house at 6am and arrived in Worcester at 7:15 (after a quick stop at Dunks for coffee of course). Our hotel let us check in...and gave me my choice of a room on the 1st floor (I hate elevators...if you are new here you probably don't know I am claustrophobic...anyway I LOVE the Marriott...they always take care of my needs)
So...we got unpacked and settled and met some friends in the lobby. Then we headed over to the theater!
The kids were scheduled to meet Andrew and Mrs. Mullen at 10am and we got to say hello and take a few quick pics. Then it was time for them to warm up and get into costumes.
The kids with Mrs M. and Andrew- this shot was missing a few of the dancers who were competing later
It was a long day. Diana had three pieces to compete in- her classical ballet, her contemporary piece and the ensemble number. (Professional Pics and Videos coming this week!)
This was a backstage shot someone captured before these three did their ballet numbers :)
After the classical ballet pieces, we had a long break before the contemporary ones so our large group (20) headed over to 110 Grill for a Late Lunch/Early Dinner.
What a crew...Gang's all here...with jazz hands of course...ha!
After lunch, we headed back to the hotel with friends so they could check in and Diana freshened up then it was back to the theater to get ready for the contemporary pieces AND the big group/ensemble number
The kids blew us away...loved everything and can't wait to share the pics! Their group number was one of the ones they performed at the Cancer Charity Show "Move For The Movement" a few weeks back and it just wow'd us!
We ended up getting out of the theater after 9:30 and headed back to the hotel. We hung out with our friends in the lobby for a couple of hours and then crashed.
I ended up staying alone in our room- Diana was so excited to stay with friends...geesh...I shouldn't complain...a hotel room all to myself..yes it was pretty relaxing...ha!
Saturday
I was up bright and early...I can't sleep in anymore...too programmed at this point! I took off first thing. Diana was staying with a friend's family for the weekend so she could support her other dancer friends and have fun of course. After a quick pit stop to Starbucks I made it home in time to surprise Eva at her basketball game...and this is what life is all about am I right?!
Anyway, I started a video and caught her one basket of the game- yeah! :)
Later on, while Daddy was doing some errands, Eva and I picked up some snacks and items for her sleepover. Her bestie Magen was coming over and we needed to make sure they were all set up ;)
After they enjoyed their pizza, I let them decorate cookies I made for Valentine's Day...they did a great job :)
I also whipped up a batch of Chocolate Valentine Cookies for my Colleagues at the office :)
Meanwhile...in Worcester...
The girls watched Spy Kids before falling asleep and Rob and I watched a couple of episodes of Blue Bloods.
Sunday
After some donuts and milk, Rob brought the girls to their Softball Winter Workout and I headed to mass with Papa.
The kids and moms who stayed in Worcester headed to lunch
We did a quick lunch right in town and then got Eva all settled with Papa.
Mrs. Mullen came to our house and we drove back to Worcester together for the Awards Ceremony and what an exciting night!
First "The Dance Moms"
Here are the kids getting introduced....
and then the awards....I didn't expect anything honestly only that Harry would place as he always does but we were on Cloud 9 when the kids placed in the Top 12 for their Ensemble piece "Odiame" choreographed by Andrew Matte. It is such a powerful piece...one of my faves of all time and I cannot wait to share the video with you! Now we wait to see if they scored high enough to head to the finals in Tampa. We should know in the next week or so!
Harry also received the most prestigious YAGP Award for his excellence in ballet AND contemporary- we are all so proud of him and his hard work!
Andrew- Amazing Teacher AND Choreographer!
We weren't really into the superbowl this year...I should say Rob wasn't because unless the Patriots are in it, I am not really ever into it.
It was a great weekend...what were YOU up to?
What a full weekend! Congrats! I love all the festive V Day snacks. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the dancers for their top twelve performance! How exciting and what a fun weekend of all things dance that it was for Diana. You guys have so much energy! Getting back to the hotel at 9:30 and then staying up for two more hours with everyone- very impressed. 9:30 would have been been my good night time after such a busy day!! I hope you have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, your weekend was one big whirlwind! It made me tired reading about all that you did.🤣 I kid, I kid. I'm so happy for Diana, that her group placed in the top twelve! And I know Eva LOVED you surprising her at the game. What a fun night you made happen for her and her friend- you're such a great mom! I bet you're glad to go to work today so you can "rest". Thanks for hosting this link party each week- I appreciate the work that goes into this. Have a great day, my friend!
