What's Up Wednesday: May 2022

EDITED: I am adding this piece this morning unfortunately.  My heart is breaking for the parents and families of the children and teachers killed yesterday in Texas- this is unbearable and has to stop.  I don't even know what to say to my girls this morning- thoughts and prayers are not enough.  We need change and need it now- not even really sure where to go from here....

Hi Friends!  It's my fave linkup of the month- yeah!  Linking up HERE and sharing "What's Up With Us?!"

What We're Eating This Week

This is a "Keep It Simple Week" and things will probably look similar for the remainder of the school year- we have three more weeks- we can do it!

Monday- Hot Dogs, Chips, Pickles (Sushi for Mama)

Tuesday- Homemade Pad Thai (will share this recipe soon- it is from my nutritionist friend Mary) :)

Wednesday- Chicken Burgers, Chips, Pickles (with Salad for Mama)

Thursday- Breakfast For Dinner- Waffles, Eggs and Berries

Friday- Mama hosting Cass's Bday dinner- Pizza for the Fam!

A Million Little Things

We are watching the series "The Staircase" on HBO Max and it is fantastic-based on a true story- so creepy!

and I completely binged "Working Moms" Season 6 in three nights- ha!  May watch it again- LOVE

and my two books for May were

The Golden Couple by Sarah Pekkanen and Greer Hendricks

(This may make my top 5 of the year- another amazing thriller from these two!)

Wealthy Washington suburbanites Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem to have it all―until Marissa is unfaithful. Beneath their veneer of perfection is a relationship riven by work and a lack of intimacy. She wants to repair things for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband. Enter Avery Chambers.

Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate.
When they glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

 and

  Nantucket News by Pamela Kelley

(Book #7 in the Beach Plum Cove Series)

another cute and quick read!

Charleston native, Taylor Abbott, has just relocated to Nantucket for her dream job as a junior news reporter at the local paper. Ten years ago she was Abby Hodges college roommate and is looking forward to living near her best friend again.
Until her rental cottage is available, she's going to stay at the Beach Plum Cove Inn, Abby's mother's bed and breakfast.
Abby meanwhile is dealing with an issue she thought she'd resolved.
Rhett discovers someone that works for him is a thief and tries to figure out who it is.
Rumor is there's a celebrity or two on the island and the media (including Taylor's co-worker, Victoria), is in hot pursuit to track them down.

 What I'm Listening To

a little bit of everything right now...typically what Diana plays when we are in the car...so Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo...Show tunes..you name it!

BUT cannot wait to play my Memorial Day Weekend mix this weekend- it is full of patriotic tunes and 1940's jazz...love it especially when we are poolside or in the pool :)

 What I'm Wearing

It is typically a mix of workout clothes and work clothes with jeans and tops on the weekends BUT I have had some social gatherings and got to bring out the bright colors again and really make an effort with fashion- Praise God- ha!

(Venus Top, Gap Skinny Jeans, Macy's Wedges)

(Shop Chartreuse Top, Liverpool Jeans, Nordstrom Wedges)

and I am having a love affair with Boden ;)

(Boden Top, Liverpool Jeans, Reef Flip Flops)

(Boden Dress, Reef Flip Flops, Macy's Cardigan)

(Banana Republic Tank, Boden Shorts, Macy's Wedges, Kendra Scott Rayne Pendant, Macy's Cardigan, Tory Burch Cross body from the outlet!  Also you may spy a pair of Blenders on my head- never go anywhere without them-ha!)

What I'm Doing This Weekend

Hosting friends and family throughout the weekend and seeing Eva's tournament softball games- yeah!  The girls also have some rehearsals mixed in! Lastly, we will be enjoying seeing Daddy march in his very last Memorial Day Parade!

  3. Hi from Waco and also devastated about another mass school shooting. No 18 year old should be allowed to buy two assault rifles and 500 rounds of ammunition….period.

  7. What a fun month! I have been looking for a show to watch and "Working Moms " sounds good. My sister-in-law recommended it to me a while ago. But I had completely forgotten to watch.
So sad to hear about the shooting in Texas. It's just so terrible and my heart breaks for the families.
