A Very Different Nutcracker Weekend

Hi Friends!  If you have been around for awhile here, you know one of our favorite annual traditions is watching our girls dance in New England Dance Ensemble's Nutcracker.

This always happens Thanksgiving Weekend.

This year, due to COVID, the experience was very different.  Instead of being completely devastated, however, NEDE saved the day and came up with a creative way to film this masterpiece.

Filming occurred during the 3rd weekend in November and the film was debuted at an NH Drive In Theater in December.

We went this weekend and were completely blown away.

Cass and her girls wanted to see it so she suggested we hit my fave city in America, Portsmouth, with our girls and make a complete adventure out of it...we did and had a ball.

On Saturday, we headed to Portsmouth with the girls and enjoyed lunch, shopping and some pool time...we also exchanged our Christmas gifts :)

That night, we headed up to the Drive In....what a cool experience and of course, we were blown away by the film! (Side Note: it was my very first time at a Drive In Theater!)

Sunday morning, we headed back to The Goat for breakfast...it was that good!

and a quick pit stop on the way home of course...we couldn't leave without hitting Tree House Toys ;)

On Sunday, we headed back up to the Drive In so Daddy could see the big film too AND so the girls could partake in the amazing Red Carpet Experience...kid you not!  They had so much fun dressing up and strutting the carpet with their dance friends...and hanging with Mrs. Mullen too of course :)

Diana and Sterling...hamming it up as always ;)

Dance Moms getting in on the Sterling action ;)

Rob was blown away by the film too....next up is live streaming with our parents on Friday night...cannot get enough!  Can't wait to watch this in the comfort of our own home :)

P.S. TOMORROW is Monthly Musings- it is early this month due to the upcoming holidays!  Grab our graphic below, answer our questions and linkup!  It is going to be a fun one!

  4. That sounds like such a wonderful weekend! I can't believe you had never been to a drive in movie before. My dad used to take my sister and I and I can remember watching movies we weren't supposed to see on the big screen behind us.

  5. This turned out to be an amazing event, all things considered, Holly!! I’m so happy to see that this could still go on. I know how much it all means to your family. How exciting that you get to watch it this weekend again with your family, and all while being cozy and lounging on the couch! Enjoy!

  7. I'm belatedly catching up on some blog reading! I know you're sad not to have your regular Nutcracker weekend but it really looks like the studio came up with a really fun alternative.
