Hi Friends and Happy Monday! Sarah and I are so glad you are here! If you blogged about your weekend, grab our graphic above and link back up with us below- c'mon...it'll be fun!
Before I jump into our weekend...I have a few highlights to share as we headed into Friday
The WHS Class of 2026 shares a senior series on IG....on Friday they shared some of the seniors and their favorite classes...check out this little lady...I think we recognize her!
and on Thursday night Rob set up the new volleyball net...hope to see lots of kids having fun in our yard over the next few months! The last time we did this was when Zach was a senior! :)
Early Friday morning, Rob woke up Eva the way she requested...by blasting "You Say It's Your Birthday" by The Beatles! When she got downstairs she was greeted by my little masterpiece i.e. donut cake!
We sang to her before the girls even got ready for school and Remi joined us ;)
That night, a few besties came over and I got Eva's request of dinner from Raising Canes and a Bday Cake of course!
They played volleyball...ran around...then crashed and watched movies as they got cozy for their sleepover- love these girls!
Diana headed out with friends and Rob and I crashed with the NFL draft on in the background
Saturday
We were up bright and early and took the girls to Mary Ann's for breakfast before bringing them home. It is the cutest little retro diner in our town
After that, I brought the girls home then headed to Shaws for a few things. When I got home, all hell had broken loose...our first floor toilet started overflowing....EEEK!!!
At first, we thought we may need a plumber but after talking to a couple, we learned that it was likely a septic system issue. We usually get our septic system pumped once/year which is more than enough as we have been told but we didn't have it done this past fall so we called an emergency septic service to come out and pump the tank.
I know gross and TMI but I always like keeping things real here ;)
Anyway, of course it ended up being a bigger issue than we anticipated. They did indeed pump out the system but they needed to bring in a bigger truck with heavy duty tools to clear out some major blockages AND through cameras they learned that a major pipe leading to the tank was broken SO this is a work in progress. We can use the water and flush the toilets BUT we can't put toilet paper down the toilets right now until the pipe is fixed which will hopefully be by Tuesday. A huge headache and unexpected expense at the most inconvenient time- that's life right? UGH!
That night, our parents and my brother came over to celebrate Eva. We had a pizza and cake night. It was chill.
We crashed pretty early except for Diana who headed out with friends after work.
Sunday
We were up bright and early. Rob and Eva headed to softball. I headed to mass then to Playa Bowls with Diana. After that, I made us dinner and chilled for a bit to watch one of my fave movies of all time "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
Then I continued working on my grad party projects.
Eva hung out with her bestie- they even jumped in the pool for a few minutes anyway. It was freezing as predicted and it is only 60 degrees here today- crazy girls!
It was another chill day with crashing early. Eva slept over her besties house and Diana went on a date. What were you all up to?

Except for the septic issues, it looks like a nice weekend! (Aren't you so glad it happened when you didn't have guests??) Eva's celebrations with friends and family sound like a great way to celebrate her last year of not being a teenager!! I can imagine how hard you're working on Diana's grad projects!! Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria! Yes I hope we have plenty of time to fix the grass that is being dug up! Two months and counting!
DeleteI'm sorry about the septic repair. I think if you've always had public sewer you have no idea the expense and aggravation this can be, but we have had septic in many houses we've owned so I get it. I'm glad you have it figured out and hope it's not too big of a deal to fix. At least it happened before all the graduation festiviites you're hosting. Happy birthday to Eva! It looks like she was celebrated big and I love the donut cake. My hubs would love one of those so I might try to remember that idea for him. Have a nice week Holly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joyce- oh the "donut cake" was a big hit! :)
DeleteI'm glad you had a great weekend in spite of septic tank issue! Eva's party sounds like fun, and I'm sure all the kids will love that volleyball net over the summer months. Y'all are such a great family! Have the best Monday, my friend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAww than you Jen :)
DeleteSounds like a wonderful spring/birthday weekend - except for the septic tank issues, of course! All I kept thinking as I read your post was "I'm so glad that, if it had to happen, it happened now and not a month from now!" Eva looks like she got lots of love (and you all got lots of yummy sweets - yum!) throughout the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same Laura- silver lining!
DeleteHow fun for Eva to wake up to so much fun on her birthday! Saturday morning sounds like it got off to an adventurous start. I am hopeful they can have it all resolved quickly. When living in South America, there were many homes and some public places where all TP went in the garbage cans due to the overall condition of pipes. It was an adjustment to get use to that being somewhat normal. Thankfully, we could flush it at our place though. Well, other than writing about TP on my comment, it looks like Eva had a great birthday and glad you got some rest.
ReplyDeleteWell that's good that you could flush it Marilyn! Ha!
DeleteHappy Birthday to Eva! I loved seeing all her wonderful cakes and celebrations. The voilleyball net looks nice and large, and will be fun to use all summer. So sorry about the septic tank problem! It's always something with a house, and it never happens at the right time--ugh. Hope its fixed soon!
ReplyDeleteVery true Pat!
DeleteHow great to have the volleyball net up! I can just imagine all the fun you are all going to have.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Eva had a great birthday. The donut cake looks so good!
Eww to the plumbing issues. That doesn't sound like fun at all. Over the past few weeks our toilet was backing up and the pipes were filled with limescale and have been cleared but more repairs need to be done but thankfully it's not on our property so the waterboard pays. Phew!
Lucky you Kim!
Delete.... and as I sit here reading this I'm trying to remember the last time we had our septic pumped (I typically do it every 2-3 years-- our tank is huge)... so sorry to hear about your pipe troubles though! Looks like Eva had a delicious and wonderful birthday!
ReplyDeleteOne of those necessary evils Joanne!
DeleteThe donut cake is such a fun idea! Ugh, I hope everything gets worked out with the septic tank!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tanya!
DeleteHappy birthday, Eva! I love all the celebrations!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jen :)
