Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Friends and Happy Wednesday!  I am joining Joyce for her weekly linkup and answering some more fun and thoughtful questions she has put together....here we go...

1. What's your favorite fall scent? Would we find this in or around your home right now?

Any of the Yankee Candle Pumpkin Scented Candles- a good ole favorite is Pumpkin Buttercream...smells like a spicy fall cake with a creamy frosting...delish!  Yes I have it in the kitchen...need to light that bad boy soon

2. October is Country Music Month...are you a fan of country music? Do you have a favorite country artist? Ever been to Nashville? In terms of lifestyle are you more country mouse or city mouse?

I do enjoy some country tunage...and some artists like Shania Twain, Kasey Musgraves, Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan to name a few. Rob and I went to Nashville with some friends a few years back and loved it.  I would like, however, to visit the Patsy Cline museum if we ever do return.  In terms of lifestyle, I am more of a city mouse at this stage...always hustling...trying to get new business...it's a means of survival.

3. How about 'country cooking'? (loosely defined as rich flavors, familiar foods, large portions, often fried, and often associated with the southern region of the US of A)?

chicken and dumplings-fried chicken-shrimp and grits-biscuits and gravy-mac and cheese-fried green tomatoes-cornbread-collard or turnip greens-deviled eggs-'barbecue'-gumbo-banana pudding

Which of the foods listed is your favorite? Any on the list you haven't tried or would say a firm no thank you to if offered?

 From time to time I do love to indulge and my fave on this list would be Shrimp and Grits- we had them at a restaurant in Nashville and they were dynamite.  I used to love my grandmother's chicken and dumplings when I was little too- I loved watching her make them and then enjoying them after!

4. What's something that always has a positive impact on your mood?

A success at work.  Always makes me feel like I can accomplish anything...especially since business successes, in the last few years, have been few and far between

5. As we say so long to September share a noun, a verb, and an adjective that tells us something about how that month looked for you.

 Noun= Football

Verb= Cheering

Adjective= Sunny

6. Insert your own random thought here.

This September, I have experienced a variety of thoughts and emotions...when will business pick up?  It has been three years of torture...I can't believe my baby is getting ready to apply to college...thank God Rob completed the FAFSA...I LOVE all of this sun and heat...may it last all year...I am overwhelmed with my volunteer work but grateful...I love my family...I love my friends...my girls are my world...what will I do when they have both graduated...do we stay here...do we go down south....

I completed our last year of FAFSA after 6 years of doing it, SO glad to be done with that haha! Hoping business picks up for you, what a weird few years it’s been.

I'm old but I remember filling out the FAFSA for our kids and I'm sweating just reading about it. :) Hope all goes well with college choices. Sounds like football is a favorite at your house! Enjoy October!

I can't believe I forgot about Shania Twain when it came to country music, I do love her!
Those are a lot of thoughts! I hope business picks up and good luck with the college applications.

When your kids start to grow up, it definitely results in many questions and decisions to make. That´s something that can be stressful and of course we stress over our kids once they´re gone. But enough of that- enjoy the fact that at this very moment both your girls are at home!! I know you are cherishing the times and the games which is all you can do at this point :). Enjoyed reading your answers- have a great day!

Pumpkin buttercream sounds wonderful! I'm sorry to hear about business not picking up. So discouraging. I can't wait to hear about her college decision.
