Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Friends!  I am here with Joyce and her fun hodgepodge linkup!  It is winter-themed today...not my fave but I wanted to join in on the fun so here we go...

1. What's a winter memory you treasure (can be from any winter in your lifetime)?

When I was little, it would definitely be sledding with my brother and coming inside for hot cocoa and brownies...we had a big hill near our house and all the kids would meet up there.

If you have been reading for awhile then you know I am not a winter person, I kind of hold my breath until spring- ha!

Anyway, as a favorite winter memory, as an adult, I would say Christmastime in NYC with Diana and our friends.

2. Tell us about the last time or a recent time you were caught up in red tape. Does it send your frustration level off the charts or is it something you've come to expect when dealing with any sort of bureaucracy?

I am lucky that I work for a small company.  Red Tape really doesn't exist at work for me BUT since I chair a non-profit charity, I deal with it more there in my volunteer job.  I like to move fast and get lots done and often times, with this work, I am slowed down by having to wait on several approvals- it can be frustrating but I always remember why I am doing it in the first place and that tends to calm me down

3. Do you eat/like fish? Do you cook fish at home? What's your favorite fish dish? Ever been ice fishing?

LOVE fish and all kinds of seafood.  My favorite is any type of lobster dish but I am also a big fan of "steamahs" (steamed clams), shrimp, scallops and crab.  I like other fish too like salmon and mahi mahi and flounder!  Have never been ice fishing and never want to- ha!

 4. Did you watch any of the US President's Inauguration coverage on Monday, Jan 20? On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being not at all and 10 being very very) how interested are you in politics in general? Do you follow/keep up with/ get involved with local politics?

YES YES YES...had it on in the background ALL DAY...got the chills several times...so so patriotic.  I am a politics lover....got bitten by the bug in college and ended up making political science my minor. It is such a privilege to live in the U.S and have a voice.  I also LOVE small town politics and ran three successful campaigns for my hubby when he ran for school board- nothing more exciting!

 5. What's the coziest thing you own and what makes it so?

My fuzzy blanket and my Ugg Slippers...both keep me warm in the ice cold hockey rinks for sure!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

This is supposed to be the coldest week all year here so after this...the days will be noticeably longer and the temps will slowly warm...bring it on!

That is a great way to look at this week- this SHOULD be the worst of it for the year!! It's only going to get warmer and yes, daylight is going to start lasting longer. I have been thinking of getting a pair of UGG slippers- glad to know you love yours. I didn't know you had a minor in political science- it was one of my majors :). That's cool that you helped your husband with his successful campaign for school board.

I used to love sledding when I was a kid but would much rather be inside no when it's cold out.
Ohh! I would love a pair of Ugg slippers, they always look so comfy and warm.

I'm kind of over the bitter cold and ready for spring temps too. You seem like you have a talent for organizing and I'm sure you did a great job with the campaigns. We love all the steamers too. We have friends who periodically bring us oysters from the Charleston area and that's a treat. Glad you joined in today! Happy Wednesday!

Sledding with hot cocoa and brownies afterwards sounds like a lot of fun. What a sweet memory!

I'm ready for this cold week to be over, so glad we're heading towards spring even though it feels a ways off yet.

Blessings~

So cool that you helped your husband campaign for the school board. I think school boards are some of the absolute most important elected positions, because they have so much influence over so many children and families. That's why I've been very active in school board elections for many, many years, even though my kids were homeschooled. I love those UGG slippers - I have wanted a pair of wool clog-style shoes/slippers like that for a long time, either UGGs or Taos, unfortunately I haven't found a pair that fit me right AND are in my price range. Have a great week - and stay warm!
