Wedesday Hodgepodge

Hi Friends and Happy Hump/Hodgepodge Day!  I am joining Joyce for her fun linkup...as always, she has some great questions for us to answer...so let's get to it!

What's something you're curious about right now?

Who left the flowers....still...and it may just be the boy who has come back...time will tell...IYKYK  ;)

If you could plan the perfect girl's weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda? Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months?

Our trip in 2022 when we met author Nancy Thayer who was a true gem!

It would be on Nantucket...it would be an awesome mix of beach time...wine tastings...window shopping and enjoying each other...with plenty of laughing and catching up of course!  I wish we had something on the calendar...we don't right now

What's the most unique item in your refrigerator right now?

Really nothing unique at all...the only thing I found that made me chuckle is Eva's Body Armor drink :)

In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging?

Riding the waves with my teenage daughter...a joy...however it has been a tough year and it was heart-wrenching to see her so heartbroken...helping her through that has been very challenging but I am so happy to say she is on the other side and God works in mysterious ways...the people he has brought into her life have been magical...can't wait to share the excitement she is experiencing now

Do you collect anything? If so why that?

The 9/11 Memorial Ornament

We collect Christmas ornaments, as a family, and also snag one on any trip we take...it has become a tradition and now our Christmas trees are filled with special memories

Alexis's Junior Prom last year

Can't wait to see my goddaughter dressed up for her Senior Prom this weekend...and all of our kids who are family friends...it will be so fun and heart-wrenching that we are here...yes :/

  1. Love what you collect as a family- so meaningful. You're such a good momma to your girls and helping Diana get over her heartbreak is something that she will remember (hopefully more than the pain of the heartbreak at some point). So you guys have two different proms? One just for seniors and one for juniors? Around here, most schools have one prom in the spring. Any junior and senior can go to it. The juniors and seniors can bring a date who is a freshman or sophomore but other than dates, it's all juniors and seniors. All the last milestones are so bittersweet! Have a great day!

    1. Hi Maria- yes we have two separate proms- kids are allowed to bring guests in different grades or even different towns and schools (with a completed permission slip of course). It is certainly bittersweet- all the lasts! :)

  2. The boy who has come back??? Oh, boy! See what I did there? In all sincerity, walking with your kids through challenge and heartbreak is not for the faint of heart, but you handle it all with such grace and a touch of bad-ass-ness (sorry to curse so early, but there's no other word to adequately express that sentiment). Mama Bear is real, girl, and I have experienced that ferociousness many a time with my sons. I respect you for this! I loved your answers this week! Happy Wednesday to you, sweet friend. Much love!

  3. I like to get a Christmas ornament too from different places. A weekend on Nantucket sounds so nice. I have never been there. How sweet it is to walk through life with your teenager, even though it does bring its challenges at times. Enjoy your day!

  4. Good morning! Boy couldn’t relate to the angst of raising a teenage daughter. Mine is in her 30’s now with a family of her own, but how well I remember her high school days. Sometimes, I miss when my kiddos were younger; however, this part of parenting is what I don’t miss. It’s hard on a mama’s heart.

  5. I have not been through the child's heartbreak yet but my son and his girlfriend are still new. We will see! I know it must be tough working through it with them but as in all tough things, you make it through and find where you can grow.

  6. I forgot about Christmas ornaments from our travels. We do the same and it makes me so happy to pull them out every year. You're marking a lot of milestones, which as you say are bittersweet. The memories looking back will just be sweet. I'm glad your daughter has regained her joy. She's learned a lot I'm sure which will serve her well going forward. And she'll remember that it was her momma by her side through it all. Have a nice day!

  8. OH yes, Nantucket would make a great girls' weekend destination. We are the same way with ornaments on our trips.

  9. I love that you collect Christmas ornaments as a family. I usually try to buy one when we travel, but I think it would be so much more meaningful to do as a family. Hope you have a great day!
