4 Things

Hi Friends!  This is my first time linking up with Jennifer for her fun linkup "4 Things."

During the last Saturday of each month, she prompts us to share 4 Things; what we LOVED, READ, LEARNED and ATE...how fun!

She keeps the linkup open and thank goodness for friends like me who typically don't blog on the weekends.

So..here we are...a snowy Tuesday in New England and I am dreaming of warmer days and more positivity in general!

So here we go....

LOVED

Getting back to my hard core gym classes...finally feeling back to "normal" or "human" and love that I get to share my gym time with my bestie Cass :)

READ

February was such a BLAH month with my reading...I only liked one of the three books I read.

I started with "Vacationland" by Meg Mitchell Moore and it just dragged.  I had such high hopes because I loved her book "Two Truths and a Lie" but this one was so disappointing.

Next Up was "I'm No Philosopher But I've Got Thoughts" by Kristin Chenoweth.  I was looking to laugh after my boring read and I kept scratching my head and saying "this is all so manic" and "she is all over the place."  I still love her but this book was another dud.

Finally I wrapped up my month with a fun read.  Pamela Kelley saved the day with her next book in the Beach Plum Cove Series- Nantucket Homes.  Praise God!  Just as good as the others- quick, light with all of the Nantucket goodness :)

My March reading is off to a perplexing start....I have hope for better reading this spring and summer...geesh...I hope anyway!

LEARNED

I learned that the little things often mean so much more than I think.  i.e. "A Heart A Day in February" for my girls turned out to be the biggest hit in a long time.  They awaited my love messages every day and they are sad that the month and tradition has to come to an end this year....sharing the little things I love about them or the little compliments brought them so much joy and in turn, brought me joy and helped me through some dark winter days.

I also learned that Eva has been paying attention in Family Faith and mass and now knows all of the songs and prayers that we say and share each week and this warms my heart and gives me even more faith.

ATE

So pretty clean over the last couple of months as I am following the E2M program.  The gist of the program is pretty much lean proteins and veggies and sometimes fruit.  You also get a "celebration meal" each week and I have taken full advantage. A few weeks was Italian both out and homemade.  One weekend, at Mohegan, was an amazing steak dinner.  Pub pizza was another week and I indulged in Mexican this past weekend.

From this new lifestyle, I have learned that I LOVE zucchini in the air fryer.  I also have learned that I don't miss creamer in my coffee as much as I thought I would.  In fact, on one Saturday, I decided to have a coffee with cream as a treat and I got sick after so there's that!  I don't miss tomatoes.  I also learned that my girls will eat kale when I make it in the air fryer!  Carrot Fries were the biggest surprise though- LOVE.  You can check out the recipe HERE

 Love reading everyone's 4 Things :)

Hello Monday (February 27, 2023)

Happy Monday!  Sarah and I are so happy you stopped by.  If you blogged about your weekend, grab our graphic above and link back up with us below!

The girls have winter break this week.  They are decompressing for a few days before I take them on a little adventure....here is what our little weekend looked like...

Thursday Night

Soul Sisters Minus Suzy

Good for my heart :)

Friday Morning

The girls had a two hour delay due to some snow/ice overnight so I headed to mass first thing with Lea then came home to get my day started...first things first...

just a couple of snow bunnies waiting for the bus ;)

That night it was Friday Night Pizza Night!  Daddy had a gig and I got my hair done and then the girls and I crashed early...I watched the new docuseries "The Murdaugh Murders" on Netflix...oh my gosh such an eye opener...who knew the awful things this family was associated with!?

Saturday

So happy for another "normal" Saturday morning...Date Walk first thing even though it meant 10 degress- BRRRRR!!  (Insert heart-eyed emojis here) yes Rob is showing you that it was 10 out ;)

Then it was Starbucks and what we call "spilling the tea"...just love this time and don't take it for granted

I dropped Diana at dance and then came home to get organized and our grocery order was delivered so I got everything put away

Rob, Pidge and I decided to watch Mamma Mia as we are getting excited for Diana's show next month!

Tickets just went on sale- can't wait!

It was a relaxing day.  Later on we got ready and headed out to La Caretta for dinner- nothing like a Mexican cheat meal ;)  The Cornelliers joined us and we had a great night!

After dinner, we headed to the 25th Anniversary showing of my favorite movie of all time- Titanic

It is now showing in 3D- I was beside myself

Anyway...everyone loved it but it wasn't without some belly laughs thanks to Miss Tina of course...my stomach still hurts...ha!!

Sunday

Diana hadn't felt well overnight- not sure if she had a little bug or something didn't agree with her so she slept in.  Rob, Pidge and I, along with Papa, headed to mass

Then I made us a nice turkey dinner and most of the day was spent relaxing and watching some movies

Last night Rob and I went for another short walk before hunkering down

I am still loving and howling at Abbott Elementary!

Rob and I are working our way through Blue Bloods- SO GOOD

and A Million Little Things returned for its final season- just love this show and will miss it!

and I actually read three books in February...they were

Vacationland by Meg Mitchell Moore- dreadfully boring- I was so disappointed

Louisa has come to her parents’ house in Maine this summer with her three kids, a barely written book that has a looming deadline, and a trunkful of resentment. Louisa is hoping the crisp breeze will blow away her irritation for her life choices and replace it with enthusiasm for both her family and her writing.

But all isn’t well in Maine. Louisa’s father, a retired judge and pillar of the community, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. Louisa’s mother is alternately pretending everything is fine and not pretending at all. And one of Louisa’s children happens upon a very confusing and heartfelt letter referring to something Louisa doesn’t think her father could possibly have done.

Louisa’s not the only one searching for something in Maine this summer. Kristie took the Greyhound bus from Pennsylvania with the $761 left in her bank account and a whole lot of emotional baggage. She has a past she’s trying to outrun, a secret she’s trying to unpack, and a new boyfriend who’s so impossibly kind she can’t figure out what she did to deserve him.

I'm No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts- Kristin Chenoweth

Another disappointment- I love her but this book was all over the place...very manic...next please

From television actress, Broadway star, and New York Times bestselling author Kristin Chenoweth comes I'm No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts, an inspiring high-design, colorful book featuring philosophical-ish musings on connection, creativity, loss, love, faith, and closure. Just like Kristin’s grandmother inspired her to trust her heart and develop her own belief system, you'll be inspired to develop your own life philosophies, as you journey through some of Kristin's most vulnerable and humorous personal stories, in her constant pursuit to make the most out of life.

In each chapter, you'll find:

  • Behind-the-scenes stories from Kristin's personal life
  • High-design, colorful pages of inspirational quotes
  • Engaging prompts, prayers, and inspiring quotes

Oh, and a warning: There will be Bible verses. There will be f-bombs. Read responsibly.

Thank God for Pamela Kelley because she saved the day/month with the next book in the Beach Plum Cove Series set on Nantucket- Nantucket Homes was adorable...another uplifting and quick read...gosh I so needed this one!

There's a new arrival to the island. Kay Johnson, a widow, was a friend of Lisa's mother and is like an aunt to Lisa. Kay is excited to relax and enjoy Nantucket—she’s already signed up for a Needlepoint class. She’s not at all looking for romance, but she is happy to make a new friend in neighbor Walter Sturgess, a widower.

When the story begins, Walter's son Travis, CEO of a tech company he founded in Silicon Valley, and his four-year-old daughter, Sophie, are living with Walter until Travis's new home is ready for them to move in.

That new home is being built by Chase Hodges, Lisa's son, and is located on the ocean, next to the home where Victoria grew up--and is now living temporarily with her parents, since she and Sean—her long-term boyfriend and fiancĂ©, broke up.

When she sees Travis for the first time in many years, Victoria realizes he is in a similar place, since his divorce. She didn't even recognize Travis at first. He had to remind her that they'd once dated in high school, before she dumped him for Sean, the star quarterback. Travis is all grown-up now, but even if she was interested in dating, Victoria has never been anxious to have children, let alone take on someone else's.

Meanwhile, Lisa's online food business was growing steadily until recently when she discovered several competitors making copycat lobster quiches and it is affecting her sales. Marley, her marketing advisor, studies the situation and advises what Lisa thinks is a questionable suggestion- but she's willing to give it a try.

Chase and Beth are also dealing with some unwelcome competition, when Chase discovers that he's losing new business bids to an upstart construction company--that is underbidding by such an amount that Chase can't imagine how they are making a profit.

And speaking of babies, Victoria isn't the only one who isn't sure she wants to have children. Now that she and Tyler are married, Kristen has been thinking a lot about that as well.
